I consider myself conscious of the environment but I like so many others am guilty of leaving the television on standby after I've finished watching it.

Philips say that features such as dimming the backlight in darker scenes have a dual benefit - not only is power consumption reduced but the back level performance is improved. Also, there is a room lighting sensor which can also dim the backlight in darker rooms.
These TV sets will be available from March in the States, with a price tag of just under $1400. Philips UK say they'll be out here in March or April too, priced at a hefty £999.
