It seems Ireland is continuing to attempt to become a major force within the online gambling world realizing the massive benefits the expanding industry can bring to the under pressure economy.

The country's Finance Ministry has decided to continue with the policy of not taking online casinos despiet Ireland being the first European Union member to declare a recession.

Brian Lenihan, Minster for Finance, said that his department wanted more time to study the online gambling industry before deciding if and when to tax it.

Getminted.com understands Ireland already benefits from jobs created by online gambling sites using the island nation as a base and does not wish to discourage other companies in the sector from doing the same.

It's a bold move when you consider the trend of increasing taxation for almost every other business sector in the country.

The decision by the Irish Government may well cause other online casino websites to flock to Ireland, bringing much needed jobs and prosperity.

A detailed review carried out earlier this year on behalf of the Government there produced a report which advised that a more liberal approach should be taken in the online gambling sphere.

The current Minister for Justice Dermot Ahern said the report showed that existing laws were 'past their sell by date'.
