The Grosvenor Casino Group offer an excellent training programme for their new recruits soi we have put a little bit of information about it so you can check out if you could be tempted by the prospect of dealing and handling large cash bets live.
Q: What will the Grosvenor training be like?
A: The Grosvenor training programme we run is one of the most respected in the industry. It lasts for approximately six weeks, during which time you will be taught one or all of the following: American Roulette, Blackjack, and Casino Stud Poker. In addition to the rules of the games you will also be taught how to work out what the winning bets pay, how to work with chips, how to shuffle cards and how to clear the Roulette layout. You also receive a full induction to all Company policies. Customer care is also included as an integral part of our training.
Q: What hours would I be expected to work?
A: A Grosvenor Casino currently operates between the hours of 12 noon and 6am.
Full time staff generally work 40 hours per week spread over various shifts and days. Weekend & bank holiday work is an accepted norm in the Casino business. Part time hours can be agreed between yourself and the casino you apply to.
Q: What happens after the GrosvenorCasino training?
A: Once you have successfully completed the training you will start working on the Gaming floor, dealing games to our customers. Whilst this may seem to be a daunting prospect, we continue to train you in any of the areas where you may need additional support. When you have graduated to the Gaming tables we begin a training and development programme specifically tailored to your individual needs, in preparation for your promotion to the next grade.
Q: Who are Grosvenor Casino and why have I never heard of them?
A: Grosvenor Casinos are a part of the Rank Group, which owns and operates over 30 Grosvenor and G Casinos and approximately 100 Mecca Bingo Clubs in the UK. The Rank Group also owns Bluesq.com. The legislation governing Casinos in the UK prohibits most advertising of Casinos and their facilities, which is why you may not have heard of us.
Q: Are the games fixed?
A: No. All Casino games are games of chance and, therefore, everyone has the same chance of winning.
Q: Is it like Las Vegas?
A: No. It is, however, just as exciting. Casinos in Great Britain are generally not as big as those in Las Vegas, which makes our Grosvenor casinos cosier than our American counterparts.
Q: What is the Gambling Commission?
A: The Gambling Commission is a body that works on behalf of the Government, policing the Gaming Industry to ensure the legislation is upheld. Everybody who has anything to do with the operation of Casino games must be certificated by the Gambling Commission before they are allowed to work. Part of this process involves the Police running all applicants details through the Police computer to ensure that they are who they say they are and that any declaration they have made regarding convictions and cautions are accurate. The Gaming industry is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
Q: Why do I need to undergo a Criminal Records Bureau check, and what is it for?
A: All employees who work in Casino Gaming in the UK must complete a CRB form. The process is part of your application to gain a Gaming Licence from the Gambling Commission of Great Britain. The check involves a Government Agency checking that you have no criminal convictions, which would prohibit you from working in the industry. Further details of this can be found in the application section.
Q: Do I need GCSE Maths?
A: Absolutely not. Just a willingness to learn.
Q: Can I work part time?
A: Grosvenor always consider applications for part time employment, in particular from experienced gaming staff.
Q: I have worked in casinos but not in the UK. How do I go about working in the UK?
A: Grosvenor Casinos welcome applications from experienced casino workers who have the legal right to work in the UK. An on line application form can be found in the application section and once received we will arrange to progress your application.
Details of the right to work in the UK can be found on the Border and Immigration Agency website at: The Homeoffice website.
